Her PhD was in cultural studies, not breakdancing, even if her thesis did talk about breakdancing. She sucked at breakdancing, but that notably isn't her area of expertise. The lesson is only listen to experts about their field of expertise, and accept that even they can make mistakes, but they're still probably a lot more likely to be right than a layman specifically in their field. In everything else, they're just a random schmuck.
Her PhD might as well have been in bullshit and gaslighting. She clearly had no one telling her “you suck at this- don’t do it”.
And her husband being on the board that got her on the team? Nepotism at its finest.
I can agree on the sucking and the nepotism. Can you explain how that'd invalidate her opinion in her actual field of expertise, cultural studies, not breakdancing?
I’m sorry I’m only referring to her joke of a performance…. I don’t really care what she thinks her area of expertise is or what her PhD is in. Tho I find it interesting that her PhD appears to be in the field that she really sucks in. My only irritation is that this topic about her keeps coming up and she continues to live rent free in peoples heads.
I wouldn't say her PhD is in the field she sucks at. It's in a very close adjacent field. That's often when PhDs make these huge public mistakes because it's not their expertise, but the feel like they've learned a lot just from how often it's come up, and then they publicly display that they way overestimated themselves.
I agree she sucked and that it's time for her moment to pass. I just don't like this being used as an example of why you shouldn't listen to experts. You generally should listen to them, but only about their area of expertise. They'll like to get real confident about other stuff sometimes, but this is when you ignore them.
