I was just thinking the other day that the relays hosted by nostr clients should transition to either paid or to be used primarily as bootstrap directory relays like https://purplepag.es/what
This would prevent client hosted relays from becoming too centralized and too overloaded, in my opinion.

To add onto this, I think that this two prong approach can really streamline the relay experience:
1. NIP-65/Gossip for intelligently finding what relays your follows posts are
2. For those who also want to automate what relays their posts are sent to (ie: very casual users), clients could use an API like https://api.nostr.watch to select a handful of relays that optimizes for high uptime and non overloaded relays
what soes this mean exactly
is it a necessity to use snort?
and how does it affect relay "aggregators" that might also be paid per month
You don't have to pay for anything, you can continue to use Snort for free
