Friends don't send friends tracking tokens. Friends remove them from links before sharing it.

Would it be possible to automate the removal when posting links e.g. in #amethyst ?

That would be a better world 🌍

It would be possible but also potentially break links that look like tracking but isn't. Also there's a way for the trackers to bypass it by designing links differently anyway, so it would still slipp through.

URL shorteners track by hashing the main link and work as a tracker in the middle.

I think I remember having heard that facebook links by standard are hashed tracking links. => They always look like random mumbo jumbo, and have their tracking embedded in their own systems by a ledger.

Such toxic, much wow

Sorry for that mate ✅

Friends don't send friends tracking links, drop mic

Whats the easiest way to strip tracking tokens?

delete "&si=" and anything that comes after when sharing a link.

Often, it's named differently. Just looking at the url often shows you what part of it is "real" and what part of it is evil (often a bunch of random stuff at the end).

Thanks, will try this! 🙂

A Nostr client that removed these automatically would be ace

Hopefully this is an accidental issue due to a lack of knowledge and not intentional
