Maybe so, but that’s not his place to say. Extortion doesn’t look good and that’s exactly what this is.
He can and does say what he wants, and we can't do anything about the tariffs. This is America doing American things, as it has been our whole lives. It's primarily going to affect Americans. I can already hear the complains about paying 10% upon import, and I'll be directing them to complain to the orange one😁
Sure we can. Despite what he may think, his word is not the be all end all, congress’ is. He is already facing a dozen lawsuits regarding some of his executive orders. For example, the courts put a stop to his ban on transgender military personnel., waiting to see if the military enacts this, otherwise, it’s dead.
What does that say about him that he is willing to vilify people willing to put their lives on the line so that he can continue his behavior. Ironic doesn’t seem a strong enough word.
The man child has stomped on so many rights in his first 100 days that it will probably be awhile before we get to the tariffs, but they are already in conversations about overturning them.
Also, I’m not sure what you mean about Americans, doing American things. We don’t like being told what to do, ask the British, so I’m not sure why you think we’ll take this shit sitting down.
By "Americans", I mean the state, not the people.
Nothing really sticks against trump. These tariffs seem like an effort to create further economic instability so I expect things to get a lot more interesting. It's only been 3 months as you say.
Yeah, we’re fucked. I can only hope someone with a better shot ends this before it gets too out of control.
Killing Trump wouldn't fix the situation because he is not the cause or root of the problem. In reality, it is more likely that his assassination was staged in order to get a larger group of people to commit to supporting him no matter what because he is 'fighting the deepstate'.
The root problem is people like Trump. He doesn’t give a shit about the constitution, congress or the supreme court because he believes he is above all that. Spoken like a typical elitist which explains why him and musk get along.
Would killing him change anything, maybe not, but it would certainly stop it from getting any worse.
Tariffs benefit no one but the rich, they always have and guess who’s rich? Yup, Trump. He never does anything that he doesn’t benefit from, otherwise he would be going after congress if he really wanted to make changes. Like maybe not paying a politician 200,000 or more and limiting their terms, but since the republicans control the house and senate, he won’t say a god damn thing.
While it may appear that way, trump isn't really the person calling the shots. No president ever is. Once people get into office, they get told how things are done - or else...
If the "other side" had won, it may have been different in the short-term, but the ultimate outcomes would be the same, because they are equally serving both their own interests and the interests of people that no one votes for.
The parties are divided on certain issues, but always united in war, tyranny, and theft of peoples money.
I think the president has little control over day-to-day operations, but Trump seems to be fighting that inertia (or people in Trump orbit are; I agree with you it's not necessarily him personally).
On the other hand in unusual situations (perhaps manufactured by those in power) the president (or people around him) seem to be able to impact things more greatly.
Lincoln and (Franklin) Roosevelt behaved in extremely unusual ways in response to somewhat unusual circumstances. I very much doubt the circumstances were ever extreme enough that Reagan or Clinton could have emulated them, regardless of their aspirations.
I get the impression that the system was a little less captured and a little less refined back then. Policies weren't so extreme. Culture was very different. Most of the agencies and global organizations that exist today were formed after the war, between ~1945-65, and I feel like that was when a lot more coordination became possible to set a global agenda.
Despite Trump doing a number of things he promised, the usual policies remain unchanged, and he's also surrounded himself with a lot of questionable people.
