i got booted off what one could consider a fairly liberal instance almost 2 years ago now, for posting about the vaccine being deadly.
A few days later, I went to log in and my account was simply gone. No email reset password, nothin.
So yeah, you're at the mercy of the admins...
In a way, it's actually even worse than twitter. There's no appeal process. There's no "trust and safety" counsel to whom you have to justify your abuse of power. Nope. They could have just skipped their Latuda dose that day, and now they're on a manic user or instance ban frenzy.
The consequences for choosing the wrong operator on nostr are that you just select another relay.
