'Kitty app'

When you go to a bar someone always gets caught with a round of drinks, so some groups add money to a pot to make it fairer, called a kitty

Traditionally the kitty is cash

How about an app on everyone's phone where there is a group function, where each participant adds money to the digital pot

When it's your turn to pay for the drinks at the bar, the total in the kitty is reduced and updates across everyone's app

Could work for fiat

Or in the future on Ln

The problem with your idea, and why it won't work, is called the Byzantine Generals' problem. It's the problem that plagues all systems like you're proposing, and the solution typically has been to put one person in charge. And that makes it vulnerable to a rug pull and disputes.

Bitcoin works because Satochi solved the Byzantine Generals' problem.

True, but it is actually already a thing but only in US called kitti

For small groups I think the generals can relax 😌
