One reason the Influence Score is better than the WoT Score: itβs not a popularity contest.
As you gain more followers, your WoT Score keeps getting bigger and bigger, but your (baseline) Influence Score maxes out at 1.

If you have a special interest in something and you want to share that interest on nostr, and someone in nostr knows that to be the case, you could get that person to do a contextual endorsement of you in that topic, on your profile at brainstorm.ninja . Then others with that same interest will be able to find you. And using Content Discovery, youβll be able to find them too!

To be honest, naming these things is important and is not easy. The score itself is used to determine how much influence my algo will give to a user over my attention, in some context. Directly proportional, in fact. And there are several reasons we might want to refrain using influence as if it were a dirty word. But I am always open to suggestions if anyone can think of a better one.

And not sure why you are comparing it with WoT. Seems like they serve complete different objectives. Unless you are using the WoT score in your algo.

I start out calculating a weighted average, using follows and mutes. A follow is interpreted as a βvoteβ for a score or 1, and a mute is a βvoteβ for a score of zero.
Itβs a weighted average, and the weight equals the influence score of the follower (or the one who mutes).
So most average scores are going to be 1.
Next, I add up the sum of weights of all the βvotesβ. Kinda like you go to Amazon and see an average score, but you also look at the number of raters. This sum of weights, which I call the βinputβ or βtotal inputβ, is translated into a number between 0 and 100 percent which I call the βcertaintyβ or βconfidenceβ. Then the influence score equals the average score multiplied by the confidence in that average score.
The confidence score maxes out at 100 percent, which is why everyone on that page has practically the same influence score of 1, doesnβt matter if their WoT score is 20 or 50 or 100 or whatever.
