i call them vga connectors or serial port. good to know db9 and some more pins as well db15 or something, dont remember much now.

Same. RS-232C: DB-25 is a more common one, there is also a range of coverting cables (eg DB9 to DB25).

yes rs232 and converter seen many times in my exchange.
