Yeah but witch ones? I played around with many different free and paid relays and now my follower count among other metrics drops by 400 if I switch certain relays off. I haven't yet looked into it, but is there a way to synchronize my profile among all relays I'm subscribed to without triggering their spam protection?

Use relays like nostr.wine and similar to that. And followers count is kind of not matter if you ask me. The system itself is very different from what you have on a centralized platforms so you better forget about this metric and feel free of that. Because it’s just estimating numbers from events, that’s it.
About relays: use bunch of free and most popular relays like damus and snort relays, also add a few paid and feel happy. But don’t forget to add nostr.wine & nostr.band like relays.
