I haven’t touched Arch in ages. On modern hardware, do you still see a noticeable performance improvement?

In the olden days, you could squeeze out some serious speed.

Haven't done it on my main machine yet. I'll probably do it if and when I get a new desktop

NixOS is the new Arch

Do you use it?

Nope. Just for dev env. Not the full OS.

That's the approach I wanted to explore.

Fedimint has an enterprise grade nixOS setup. nostr:npub19z2uxvxz8uurr9kqa7vgmek6swurk3vra40ec8kmpf2eemx3lyqq6zfkd4 is big on nix too

yes. just built a new desktop. runs beautifully

Nice. What’s the rough time required to compile from source and get up and running?

haha well that is a good question. i fucked up the install the first 3 times, got it right the 4th, and by then I was much faster than the first.

couldn't give an estimate as time became one moment last few weeks haha also, I never installed arch before, and only got into linux last August

From zero to Arch in ~6 months. Hardcore. 🔥

just installing and getting to the de, not very long, last install I was able to install most apps I wanted very quickly as well, only hangup was my bandwidth downloading games and AI models
