This was an excuse, and really not the real reason. He misunderstood how federation works and was speaking theoretically. It isn’t a resource hog, they just didn’t like what they’d see.

You mean the animes? That's probably due to the lack of proper ways to filter content, which I hope Nostr will develop eventually.
