Besides zaps, I’ve used lightning (in lesser frequency to be sure) in e-commerce for both services and deliverable goods, and in-person in retail at bitcoin meetups.

Personally, I would not want to use lightning solely custodial. By that I mean, I have no problem using a custodial wallet for pocket change, but for anything substantial I use self custody.
