Which Nostr client has the best new user onboarding experience and why?

Needs to be multiplatform (at least Android and iOS). I am updating an older article on Nostr, which shows a client that no longer exists. Where should I point new users?

Preferably it should be able to scan QR codes with npubs - in that case I will use it also during a keynote to follow me and the conference account.

i show everyone primal because it’s the most similar to apps they already use

Yeah I haven't onboarded anyone but I would just say to use primal, especially as it is also a wallet. So yeah, it is friendly to complete beginners.

Maybe with caveat to ignore most of their follow recommendations (I think most people know this about social media platforms anyway), and using an anonymous /secondary email for the wallet or something.

(Wallet thing depends on it you're onboarding someone with no knowledge of lightning.)

Not looked into it. But I think Openvibe might be a good option for people wanting to crosspost to different platforms. Not sure what it's available on tho 🤔

that was my hunch, I like it, except for the integrated wallet based on email and custodial.

Wait, it allows nostr wallet connect with external wallet now?

ooooooukeeeeeyyyy!

I believe Primal and Damus are the only ones with iOS and Android. Not sure the status of their Android apps, but both their iOS apps offer new user onboarding.

Damus is not on Android I believe.

There's nostr:npub1yzvxlwp7wawed5vgefwfmugvumtp8c8t0etk3g8sky4n0ndvyxesnxrf8q for both I think.

But if it's better, recommendations for Android and iOS can be different. It seems that Primal is the way to go though, the only thing I don't like that much is the integrated wallet with all the things required to sign up.

I believe with Android, Primal has the option to use NWC instead of the built in wallet. Primal iOS is built in wallet only for sending. You can still set any wallet you want receiving in your profile settings.

I haven’t tried yakihonne mobile app. Good to know.

I believe I saw nostr:npub18ams6ewn5aj2n3wt2qawzglx9mr4nzksxhvrdc4gzrecw7n5tvjqctp424 post a few weeks ago about testing Damus on Android. Maybe it’s still not released publicly or something.

I'm regularly returning for Primal, exactly for it's simplicity and - relatively speaking - smooth experience without major issues.
