There's a lot of development happening (and especially in El Zonte). A lot looks great, and there's a lot of nice places to stay now there.
But there are a couple of big apartment blocks going up that block the view for other properties (such as for the Bitcoin Beach House) which look out of character (albeit they're not finished).
I suspect a lot of the development is making it more difficult for locals to stay in the town with prices presumably going up.
There also used to be a turtle egg sanctuary which they're now building on so I'm not sure what the plan for that is now (couldn't see a new one).
However, on the whole there's a lot of good stuff happening also outside of El Zonte. The "Old Town" in San Salvador with the palace, church, and library is well worth a visit for example.
There is certainly a sense of optimism in the air!
