I've been chatting with a Croatian. English is so effing hard without cultural context. Today's example is "steak." (We are ignoring hominems today. 😝)

Steak is beef, right? But no. It's also various cuts of meat. It's also not just beef, in the case of what we call ham steak in the US. Also, a roast is different than a steak, but that's only dimensionally, or where a chunk of meat is cut from. But then you also have chops, but those are, culturally, small steaks of non-beef meat, like pork or lamb.

English is dumb. But I also love it. 🤣🤣🤣
