One year ago today, we publicly introduced Keychat. The letter metaphor helped many people understand what Keychat is all about.

Today, Keychat is officially live — and even more focused on serving Bitcoiners.

“Keychat is the super app for Bitcoiners.

Autonomous IDs, Bitcoin ecash wallet, secure chat, and rich mini apps — all in Keychat.

Autonomy. Security. Richness.”

This is our first time building a Bitcoin-related app, and as Bitcoiners, we’re truly enjoying it.

Thank you for sharing our notes, helping more people discover Keychat, and giving us valuable feedback. We need this kind of support.

but no Linux.

Linux does not support WebView. We may first release a version for Ubuntu that does not support mini apps.

In addition to placing some trust in Keychat, with webview I assume we are also placing trust in other parties. Could a malicious webview party compromise others? Some nsec, privacy, ecash concerns with webview. Curious about a Linux version without webview.

A simple way to understand WebView is that it’s the web browser engine built into the mobile operating system.

Both nsec and ecash are stored locally in Keychat.

When logging into a website with your Nostr ID, Keychat only provides the signature to the site — it never gives out the nsec.

This is great info & goes a long way in increasing my comfort with your app design! Thank you
