Yes, making a point. That was a word that my son and I learned while I was homeschooling. It was a fun word that we enjoyed working into conversations. In general, I prefer to use simpler words to make sure the people I am conversing with understand the point I'm making. I sometimes use a bigger word if it really communicates my thought better, but I try to speak/write in conversational English rather than educated English.
