Trust me you need these Korean “drug eggs” in your life
Discussion
The heck are these! I have tried Chinese "tea eggs" and really liked them.
Here is the recipe I used but I substituted monk fruit sweetener for the sugar.
They are traditionally eaten over hot rice, but they are great by themselves
Thanks. Will certainly try it out.
Interesting. I had to ask AI what it was and it gave me a recipe.
Here's a recipe for Korean drug eggs (Mayak Gyeran):
### Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup honey or corn syrup
- 1/4 medium onion, diced
- 1 green onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 chili peppers, diced
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
### Instructions
1. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, water, honey, onion, green onion, garlic, chili peppers, and sesame seeds.
2. Add vinegar and salt to a pot of boiling water. Gently place the eggs into the water and simmer for 6 minutes.
3. Prepare a large bowl of ice water. Once the eggs are done, transfer them to the ice water to stop the cooking process.
4. Peel the eggs and place them in the marinade. Ensure the eggs are fully submerged.
5. Refrigerate the eggs in the marinade for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.
These marinated eggs are known for their addictive flavor and can be enjoyed as a side dish or snack. The name "drug eggs" emphasizes their irresistibly delicious taste[1][2].
Looks great! Thank you! 💜
