I’ve been delving into the history of the Crusades, and it’s been challenging to reconcile my knowledge in Korean and English due to the different terms used. In Korean, we refer to the military unit as 십자군, which highlights the visual symbol of the military (✝️) worn by Nobles and soldiers. However, I discovered that there were numerous common people, including farmers who were illiterate, among those who participated in the initial Crusades. It’s quite intriguing when I compare the term “cross” and “십자가” (십十 meaning “ten” in Korean). Interestingly, the number “십” doesn’t carry any religious significance. Therefore, in a literary context, 십자군 simply refers to the military unit that represents the number 10. This revelation sheds light on my previous ignorance about world history....(😂🤣)
