Tariffs aren't new—neither is the misguided notion of "reciprocal" ones. Milton Friedman cut through this fallacy with clarity: When other nations restrict trade, they harm their own citizens. When we respond with our own tariffs, we merely punish our citizens, too. After all, you don't fix holes in the bottom of the boat by shooting more holes in it. Free trade benefits America regardless of what other countries do. Refusing to buy something at the best price available is simply bad business.

If Tariffs are so bad for an economy, why do 170 countries have Tariffs on US products?

Perhaps try using critical thinking skills instead of anti-Trump rhetoric. Tariffs allow for the shutdown of the IRS / Federal taxes and the creation of the External Revenue Service

Just pointing out something about tariffs doesn’t make someone anti-Trump. Truth is, I don’t trust any politician. That said, I still preferred him over any Democrat by far.

Other countries do impose tariffs on the U.S., but it’s not just about playing the victim. It’s also important to remember that since the dollar is the world’s reserve currency, inflating it robs not only American citizens—but everyone else too.

Actually everyone else before americans.
