Hey nostr

After 3-5 minutes of intense deliberation and research a list of the 10 greatest movies (objectively) of all time has been compiled. The research guidelines were adopted from those used by the cdc and fda involving pandemic related issues and are therefore beyond contestation.

1) forest gump

2) the usual suspects

3) Casablanca

4) tombstone (the one with Val Kilmer as doc Holliday)

5) Dennis the menace (the one with Walter Matthieu…I laughed so hard in the cinema that my 4 yo daughter and her 4 yo fren moved to diffrnt seats…mind u this is the child that will likely be pickin out my nursing home😳)

6) caddy shack

7) animal house

8) major Payne (I quit watching the Oscars after it was snubbed😡)

9) the godfather

10) Shawshank redemption

HM

The little mermaid

The hot chick with rob sneider (possible his finest work🤣)

Thoughts?

Who else noticed the price of #Bitcoin is about to rip so hard that it creates a 90° right angle on the price ticker.

Get ready for the green candles🚀

This is the phase we’ve been preparing for since the lows of late 2022

If you’re a fan of #bitcoin and you haven’t join the rebelcapitalist vip newsletter yet to 100x your sats, then I don’t even know what you’re doing here!

The rebelcapitalist grinds to produce top-level crypto content every day. their threads and insights are awesome and educative, you will

learn a lot from the trend.

I like your list! But, we might be no Siskel & Ebert.

No I suppose not…but then again I bet they’re not BTCers and nostriches 😉

True! 😁

Also in retrospect I was remiss in leaving out Princess Bride and Knight’s Tale..at least for honorable mention🤦🏼‍♂️

We overlap by 1

off the top of my head:

1) 2001 space oddysey

2) godfather

3) vertigo

4) nil by mouth (gary oldman)

5) bourne trilogy

6) wizard of oz

7) marnie (hitchcock)

8) alien (probably because i watched it last night)

9) deerhunter

10) apocalypse now

no accident that there's basically nothing in the last 40 years - a strong indication of how everything's turned to shit!

70s is what it's all about for me, though i have an open mind to anything before that

i absolutely couldn't stand shawshank redemption, or understand why anyone rated it. he seemed just totally up is own ass!

I don't know if you are aware but nostr has a reddit-type feature, 'communities'. it hasn't really taken off yet but there is one for movies:

(hopefully this works as a link)

oh i forgot the other kubricks

- dr strangelove

- the shining

My kids love Kubrick…they are a lil dark and disjointed for me…but as my wife says I am “not a smart man”…got that in common with my boy forest gump😉

I revisited ur top ten and with the exception of #4 (never heard of it) and #8 ( I didn’t watch it last night😂) those are hard to disagree with🙌🏽…unfortunately they were not arrived at with the same rigor and standards of research as mine🤷🏽‍♂️

#4 nil by mouth is kind of harrowing (though there's a lot more to it). i had a phase of loving films like that, and my top 3 then were:

- nil by mouth (about a wife abuser basically)

- breaking the waves (i can't even bring myself to say what it was about)

- se7en (i am guessing you might know this..)

i also love films where you kind of find out right at the end what it's been all about, but you didn't realize before. for example Chinatown (at least that's my interpretation of it..)

I don't know Major Payne, perhaps I should try it to give your list a chance of redemption 😁

I remember really liking se7en (full disclosure I’m an unabashed Brad Pitt fan and also a fan of Morgan freeman and Kevin spacey) but can’t remember much about it other than the crimes based on the seven deadly sins

As for major payne it’s a pointless comedy with gut splitting comedic stupidity…but if u liked in living color and particularly Damon wayans it’s pretty funny.

what i loved about se7en (without giving any big spoilers if you rewatch):

- the mood / atmosphere. unrelenting rain in the city.. ..suddenly and completely relieved when they drive out to the desert for the final scene

- the sheer imagination of those crimes, my god

- kevin spacey was an incredible bad guy and you could totally believe he was capable

oh as you mention brad pitt, another film i forgot is 'the big short'. Not just because it's the best explanation of the total simplicity of the fraud in the banking system, but its brilliantly directed and acted. Should be a heavy film and i guess it is if you think about it, but it's really a great watch.

“2 enthusiast thumbs up” on big short…loved that movie

Kevin spacey was also really good in “usual suspects”

And I will have to give se7en another watch…its been a long time

Thnx for a great reply…even if u are completely off base on the movies🤣…I always value the opinion (dissenting or otherwise) of others (esp when offered thru the lense of kindness or good spirited debate)🌅

What kinda libertarian would I be if it was otherwise😉

Thnx for the nostr address. unfortunately it didn’t come as a link but I will check it out.

Stay edgy my friend
