Trying out the foundation passport.

Two issues so far:

1. Tells me I can use either the mobile wallet app or not, but the only place I can find the QR code for the security check is on the app anyway. Needs to be clearer.

2. When I scan the QR code on the app, I get an error and I'm stuck in a loop of scan, error, shutdown.

Positives? Feels really nice to hold so far but that's about all I can do ๐Ÿ˜‚

Maybe I need to skip the security check if I'm not using the Envoy app?

OK cool, got it. Once I've told it I don't want to use the app there's no way to go back and use the app during setup? Maybe needs to be made clearer that the security check must be done on the website after that point.

I was thinking about getting one. It looks really sleek, and I have been enjoying the use of Envoy recently.

Maybe #[2] can help with your issues?

That error means you're scanning the wrong security check.

We have two setup flows, Envoy and Manual. The manual one does the check at validate.foundationdevices.com

The error messaging is far clearer on the latest firmware, but obviously you haven't made it that far as you're just doing the setup.

Make sure you update to 2.0.7 as there's SO many quality of life updates that improve the UX ten fold.

Feel free to DM or ping me with any questions you have. Thank you for buying Passport ๐Ÿงก

Thank you for the ping mate. Always happy to help

Not updated the firmware yet, will do it now.

First impressions of using via Embsay on mobile is that this is pretty amazing. In terms of adoption, it's so important to make this a process that doesn't need a laptop or desktop.

Very cool and obviously much easier than swapping sd cards.

I did initially attempt to use qr to sign via laptop but ran into issues. I suspect laptop camera quality is generally a problem here. I then tried to find a way to get the qr signed txn from the passport on to a sd card but it looks like there's no way to do it half and half? Ie. Sign via qr but upload signed txn via sd card.

This looks really promising. I love the magnetic back cover. Nice touch.

Yeah the phone experience is FAR superior for most users that don't require the fancy stuff Sparrow etc are capable of.

Laptop cameras can be super hit and miss, especially with different lighting conditions. General advice here would be to reduce the QR density on Passport (press left when they're displaying) and dim the screen brightness (press down when QR is displaying).

We're adding the half and half flow to Envoy soon too.
