Hey nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s when you get some time, could you take a look at the amount of storage nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955 is using?

This is after I cleared the cache:

The more cache the faster the application. How much cache usage would be acceptable?

I see it differently. I care less how big the cache is, I care more that when I clear it down it doesnโ€™t trend to zero, but instead reduces by around 25%

It was about 7.5GB before I cleared it from the app.

Also when Iโ€™ve deleted the app and reloaded it. With a near zero cache size I donโ€™t see a dramatic performance degradation.

I appreciate Damus has a pseudo relay built in, so I understand the cache reflects this, but even so 8GB for a cache is enormous!

How much cache would be acceptable?

Iโ€™m not certain we have concord.

Thatโ€™s like a painter asking how many pots of paint Iโ€™d like to paint my house with.

The cache size is self determining and a secondary issue to the two points Iโ€™ve raised:

1. Clearing the cache doesnโ€™t do what it says.

2. The cache size doesnโ€™t noticeably change the appโ€™s performance significantly as far as I can test.

This is interesting and has been mentioned as a problem for multiple nostr apps. I will look into it for fun ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿ•บ

I wonder whether android supports user defined cache. Then each user could configure a maximum that suits them.

#Amethyst has also infrequent issues with bloated cache/data.
