I disagree here. Most people use things without understanding how they work under the hood.

They don’t need to study cryptography but they should understand why nostr and not Twitter etc.

It could still be net benefit for #Nostr overall if some app becomes popular using Nostr, without advertising that to it’s users. I could still interact with them using other apps.

The core idea of truly owning your digital identity altough it does not have to be real, without depending on a 2nd party while still being able to be discovered because of interconnections with other relays.

I can even argue that the first step should be educating people about the meaning of #cryptography in the first place.

It’s similar as with custodial #Bitcoin wallets like nostr:npub1hcwcj72tlyk7thtyc8nq763vwrq5p2avnyeyrrlwxrzuvdl7j3usj4h9rq . You could argue that’s not using #Bitcoin and that would not be totally false claim, but,at the same time, you can do monetary transactions with such users with your non-custodial proper wallet, so, at the end of the day, it is net positive for Bitcoin.

Yes, altough the consequenses can be really bad. That is one of the friction points and attack surfaces for any attacker.

This is not true. Everybody has a rough understanding of most of the physical world things they use.

In fact people even understand that when they use TikTok they are interacting with a TikTok server through the internet.

Like, you know TikTok while you TikTok🤣🤣! That was actually funny!
