My great grandfather was a titan of industry. He never wanted his kids to have to lift a finger. He grew up poor and he wanted them to have everything he never had. They lived like royalty but never learnt anything about managing wealth. By the time my mother inherited there was precious little left. She kept it as cash her whole life. A few years ago she finally used it to buy a modest little home for herself.
