An idea about the decentralized mint of cashu:

To solve the problems of cashu mint running away and trust, can we run a decentralized mint on the relay or architecture? No individual can control the sats balance. A small amount of sats can be collected as transfer fees and distributed to the relay operators. The closure of any relay will not affect the balance of funds in each cashu account that has been recorded by all relays. Even if all relays are closed, you can run a relay to transfer funds out. In this way, the sats on the relay can also be stored permanently, which is conducive to the application and development of cashu. #[0]

The protocol stack already does this when the mints are inter-connected over Lightning.

The only thing needed is a special "audit transaction" on lightning that confirms lightning funds available to send as the mint treasury.

What do you think about the feasibility of building on a relay? The liquidity of Lightning Network nodes can allow Bitcoin users to stake sats, and stakers can earn transaction fees as rewards.
