I've come to this recently too. It's hard to come to, but to understand the world you have to face that your ideology might not be "the" reality.

I "believe" in natural rights, as in, I'll enforce them for myself, period. They're a fantastic civic structure for social organization at a large scale. You can reason about how you're born with them, that you can articulate your possession of them means you possess them, it's all great, I stand by them. But they're a civic structure, they don't occur naturally.

What occurs naturally is power dynamics. The flow of power, the law of conservation of power. It is emergent, a trait of life, but it is real and natural.

most "nice" people don't want to acknowledge that, in the end rights come back to power.
