Inflation is difficult to measure from the monetary supply side due to foreign holdings and outflows of dollars, but this method can be used to estimate it within 20%. To measure it on the consumption side, with price action, where inflation is instantaenous amongst some classes of goods and delayed for others; this is how the government fudges inflation numbers beyond 100% in order to minimize the perception of their theft through lending against its central bank.
