If you guys are now going to do the same, just know that organic rice has little weavil eggs in them and if you leave it in your pantry for too long they'll hatch and start eating through your rice. There's nothing better than pouring a bit of rice while your hungry and these little black fuckers come crawling out to the top to surprise you.
And yes, you can eat them (eat ze bugs lol) and nothing bad will happen, they dont carry any diseases AFAIK so if you missed one or two while skimming them off your rice its not gonna hurt you. But DO try to prevent them though, since the little fuckers can eat through plastic bags and cardboard to infest your other rice and pasta in your pantry.
Nowadays I transfer my rice from the bag to mason jars then put it in the freezer for 3-4 days. Apparently the low temperature will kill the eggs. I've yet to confirm though but if they do start hatching at least they're isolated in a glass jar!
