Never heard of this instrument
Double reed instrument, the bass of the woodwind family.
Fagotto in Italian, and something similar in most other languages I guess because it looks like a stick (or bundle of sticks?), though the English word probably comes from "basso."
It's the grandfather in Peter and the Wolf. This should link to the sound -

If those are marines, I bet it’s kick ass music of whatever variety they are playing. There’s no such thing as a half-ass marine.
