Investing is an ego thing for a lot of people.

And that's not just VCs, it's Angel investors and a lot of others. Think about it. Many of these people have more wealth than they can spend. Others are really investing other peoples' money. What they're really after is the status that comes with being an investor in something truly big. They want that glory.

It's weird, because in many ways, they don't do much, other than provide capital. And that capital is often leveraged loans, or money from thin air. As much as VCs act like they add tons of value to companies, vast majority of the time, they just get in the way. That capital is useful, though, because you don't have to compete on merit, you can compete on scale and marketing instead. This is where the zombie infection starts.

Yet the narrative is that these are the people that should get credit and the reason that the economy thrives! That's the status they're after. And the mainstream media is happy to give it to them.

Bitcoiners ought to know better. The people that do the work are the ones that deserve credit, not their investors.

Bitcoin is the rise of labor. Stay humble. Stay productive. Stack sats. No rentseeking. Just work.

The point is, What do you do with your money? If you don’t make enough, Is it because there is something in your life that you don’t want to face? If you make more than enough do you do anything to give back? What is the endgame with your resources? What will you be remembered for?

Another consideration is the time dimension of wealth. In todays age a person can become wealthy in their lifetime, And 100 years ago wealth was built over many generations. If you were not born into money, And social class you had no chance. Today if you logged into the bitcoin faucet to transact on the dark web, And kept access to your wallet, You might be wealthy.

The old way doesn’t work without an ego. Can you imagine meeting Jamie Dimon if he tried to move to China and work his way up from the bottom? He would be schizophrenic. But would Jamie Dimon be able to play the role he does without an ego? Does the pop culture celebrity secular American economy allows for people to build wealth egoless?

Yep id love to see a VC funded hardware startup survive 3 bear markets with no funding…bootstrapped companies are built different…
