This is awesome, I'll need to give this a go

I spent most of my work day yesterday reading up on it. I’ve got a couple of Pi’s laying around that I could use.
It's a really cool project, seems pretty polished too, I don't think you'd age considerably trying to set this one up.
Worthwhile I think, I have an unused pi too I think I'll put toward this, I keep wondering what some of the birds chirping are.

I was curious to see what people’s set ups were with it but couldn’t find much outside of their microphone choices.
I wanted to see how people are mounting them and powering them outside.
Yeah good questions, I think you'll always end up with a long cable plugged into the pi, so through a window or something. They don't usually need external power sources so that's good, the pi should be enough.
I have a tree just outside my window so I'd plonk it on that, but it would have to be weatherproofed.
Some of the setups I saw they just ran lavalier microphones out through a window.
I can’t do that at my place so I’d probably get an outside power supply, enclosure, and a mic that I can run out of the enclosure.
Yeah some kind of microphone through the window sounds like what I'd try.
You could probably do it with some kind of battery pack too, though having to recharge that all the time is a pain in the ass.
