nostr:npub189nhq0cw33243htm08c53vjvgc5letv7d9sgqtgqsn6fnx6dv8zs0fsatx I’ve tried for years to be graceful and humble when dealing with people who believe his bullshit, but I’ve now realized that they are like that because they want to be. They have all been exposed to the truth, they just refuse to believe it because the cognitive dissonance would give them a headache. They have all had family members and loved ones BEG them to turn off FOX and OAN and to re-examine their lives, but they won’t. So I’ve washed my hands of it.

Not sure what hashtags you’d use for this, but you’re right, it is painful and frustrating. Right wing media plays on the most base of human emotions; anger, fear, hate (Yoda: “…suffering.”). They play on those intense feelings, presenting lies and half-truths from charismatic people, and because they start from some of the most basic identities people have (Christian, American, etc.) it’s easy to get swept up into it.

The last bit that makes this extra hard is that those intense negative emotions evoked by conservative media are rich sources of dopamine and other hormones. They get addicted to it, and so that makes ot extra hard to walk away from it.
