I can’t be optimistic about Nostr if I can’t delete my posts. I don’t feel comfortable shitposting here :/

Why not? Heree you can truly shitpost without fear of having to censor yourself. If you're afraid of who you TRULY are then it is you that needs to do some introspection into yourself and ask yourself why do you CARE what others think of what you post.

Ah I guess

Nostr has delete support

How? I’m using Primal. Notes get deleted from the relays you were connected to when you published them, right? Or only from specific relays? I don’t understand

You have a relay list. When you make a post it goes to all those relay. What happens on those relays is up to the relay operator... For instance that relay may be sending to other relays. Now, I'll link it below but a delete event is a kind 5 event that reference another event to delete. Whether or not the relay you're sending to supports kind 5 is totally up to the relay. Delete is optional for relays. But from my experience it's widely supported. There is no guarantee of delete on nostr.

No, your notes don't delete when you login/out.

So theoretically if all relays adopt kind 5 events then all posts become deletable, right?

Yes. But there will never be any guarantees of delete unless you are the sole relay operator and you know you deleted it and know the event wasn't on any other relays. But from my experience, delete is widely supported and relays are supposed to broadcast their kind5s to other relays if they are requested for an event that has been deleted so the kind5 is more widely distributed.

Most things on nostr relays disappear after time anyway.

They appear when I login. Hmmm so people can’t see my old posts?

If you can see them everyone can see them. Primals relays may handle things differently but most content on nostr relays get nuked/deleted at some point in time.
