However, as a music fan first.. I want the artists I love to get paid even on old stuff. As a visual artist, I would never devalue my old work just because I improved. As a musician.. I wonder a great deal about why one musician might sell and another would give away.

I sell, because I need money to live. It is that boring and thoughtless. Lol

Is it because music is intangible that it seems to hold so little monetary worth?

i feel charging for it would just cause unnecessary barriers. not only that, i have certain quality standards. the stuff i put out previously did not meet them, therefore i wouldn't sit right with me to charge for it. maybe my influences have set impossibly high standards for me and maybe its been a steep hill to climb. but i feel it has helped a great deal with self discipline.

that last part about the value of music can be a whole discussion in itself, one I don't have enough brainpower to partake in on my work break lol.
