How a $40 fix turned into a $400 fix:

I was trying to replace my CPU cooler because the fan bearing had seized. When I pulled the old cooler off, the 3.5 year old thermal paste was so glued on that it ripped the CPU out of the socket. One side of the cooler mounting bracket was still hooked on so the CPU pins banned against the socket and several got bent on one corner.

Will since I'll be buying a new CPU now I suppose I'll be upgrading from 12 cores to 16 cores. These AM4 socket Ryzen CPUs have come down in price about 50% since i built this computer 3.5 years ago.

Ouch what a costly situation. Well i suppose of youre going to do it might as well upgrade and enjoy the increase in power.
