What’s the fastest sync you’ve experienced and what do you think is the main factor when it comes to speed? #asknostr

I thought it was going to be an Ethernet connection, but am being proved wrong.
I can get it down to about 16 hours with the hardware I run. I’ve found it really likes lots of RAM, and will use as much as you give it.
But slow SSD, slow CPU, and slow internet will all bottleneck you if any one of those is slower than the rest!
Nice! I’m at about 12 hours and 27% so far. I think my bottleneck is mostly because I don’t have an SSD. 😅
RAM is absolutely the main factor for me. My little R-Pi Umbrel took a week to sync the chain back in May of 2021. Meanwhile, my Start9 powered through it overnight in January of 2024. Got the thing booted up after work at about 8pm and by the time I woke up the next morning, it was ready to rock.
Someone with much slower internet will have a bit different experience, I expect.
Raspberry Pi - about a week
Start9 Server One - two days
High end PC - about half a day
SSD is a must!
