Are you found of oil based or water based finishes for wood?

I'm fond of neither. They both have their uses.
acrylics are nasty but they are cheap
oils tend to have problems with maintenance... i mean, mostly they are based on more or less boiled linseed, it has to be freshened up periodically or eventually the wood dries and you start to get all kinds of problems
i will say than zinc oxide and oils are pretty durable, i mean, nearly a decade for most climates
