GM #nostr - I'm bloody frozen, I stepped off the boat this morning and I've struggled to warm up since, now sitting waiting for a coffee to arrive while I thaw out.

How the hell do all of you who live in much colder places manage? Anything worse than -3c & I'm basically fucked πŸ˜‚

Good morning, Matt!

I see it as normal... 🀷 Try a Schnaps next to your coffee.

I'm definitely built for warmer days lol - a shot of whiskey with the coffee might not be a bad idea though, thanks for the suggestion πŸ‘ πŸ₯³

And more layers underneath

Good morning.

It usually comes down to clothing and hardiness. Both can be improved.

I can definitely do with getting a thermal top, that'd help, but nothing is ever going to acclimatise me to winter, even after these many years, I need heat πŸ₯΅ πŸ˜‚

Move to the tropics! 😁

The plan for years was to spend winters in Spain and I just started doing that in 2020 when the lockdowns started and everything went to shit. From next winter though, I'll be there December through to the end of Feb. British winters suck πŸ˜‚

don't freeze man! hope you'll bring your boat down to the costa del sol one day. no more frozen nuts!

A tip from an arctic explorer surviving in -24 deg C on a P&O Cruise ship in Alta, Norway last Christmas.

Wearing them right now at home πŸ˜‚

Apparently, Ukrainian soldiers also use something like this in their trenches

Really?

They are good πŸ‘

GM, the most important (for men) is keeping the kidney and feet warm. Put some hot thing near it πŸ‘Œ

Good morning πŸ’œ

GM! I am soft so even -3 is way cold πŸ₯Ά

Would love to hear how the tough ones do it …

I know I grew up without indoor heating and I've done some tough nights on the boat but even so, it never gets easier

I think I really don’t like being super cold. Some people thrive on it though… I think I’m too soft πŸ™ˆ

Good morning Matt, hot coffee always helps… at least till it’s gone

As for me personally, I come from ancestry that is from Scandinavia. Tolerating long cold winter is in our blood.

So you're built for it and you get to enjoy it, I'm 1/4 Italian, I'm built for the long hot summers, which is almost a shame, because there's things in the northern areas I'd love to see but I doubt I'd ever enjoy.

You'd have to go in the off season, I assume.
