You can just avoid global and follow hashtags and thensuch. Or add free relays that filter spam a bit more. Nostr.how might have this answer. Not 100% sure tho.

I'm not actually having issues with spam, it's network speed. Maybe more related to Amethyst client? i.e. on a profile visit someone's follower count slowly climbs up, and data generally taking time to populate in-app. 🤷🏻‍♂️
