Learnt about Schnorr sigs today and how they are an optimisation on ECDSA in Bitcoin.

A lot of people don't like referring to them as Schnorr Signatures, as Claus Schnorr patented them and thus they weren't accessible to the open source community.

I always wonder why would someone patent knowledge!
