This is the cpu on my old pc. Which Debian iso should I download? What architecture is my cpu?

Ur architecture is x64
Ubuntu server 22 probably best bet
What about for Debian?
Cool thanks. I was getting confused with the amd vs i
I was thinking maybe intel and amd had different iso
So I've recently started coding again. Its been a while. Python for the moment. I have a cheap but decent newish laptop running windows 10 which has been doing just fine. But now it's time for me to start running Linux again. Been a while. I've used Ubuntu and even Red Hat way back in the day. And right now I'm trying to decide whether to carve out a chunk of my laptops remaining 147 GB (SSD) for a VM or format an older laptop of mine that can't stay on unless it's plugged in. What do you think?
You could always ssh into the older machine if you used that and kept it stationary and always plugged in. Pretty easy to set that up
What do you want to use it for?
Debian is nice, but Trisquel is Debian + Ubuntu perfected
Bitcoin and Lightning node. Never used Linux before so asking questions as I go through the process
www.mynodebtc.com #MyNode this is a Bitcoin Node, LN Node with support for Nostr relay all in one running on Debian - plug n play - also supports BTC pay server, electrum server and many other things. Probably the easiest way to get started.
Is that secure? Iβve seen people say you donβt want to run more things other than your node. More attack vectors.
i run it as a node and relay only. my private keys are on a hardware device. My wallet is connected to myNode. As for lightning, there is no support for hardware wallets to the best of my knowledge, so its best to only open small lightning channels and back them up. This should be a dedicated machine, not your daily driver. Your daily driver should be a seperate machine that you can control MyNode remotely with. never run a node on your main sytem. MyNode also lets you run it behind tor and vpn.
for the record, i did not say to run more things than your #MyNode on that dedicated machine :)
Yeah I understand. Iβve just heard some people not suggest running a Nostr relay with their bitcoin node. I have no idea about the security concerns so I was just asking you about it.
this is only a concern if you are storing your private keys on that bitcoin node.
I would never store my private keys on anything other than a hardware wallet.

let me know if you have any more questions, i am happy to help! atleast with the knowledge and experience that I do have, not saying I am an expert, but a junior expert MAYBE lol
Do you pay for mynode or is the free version good?
The free version is great, i only paid to activate pure tor connections to peers and remote access over tor. But id you dont need tor then the free version you will be happy with. But yeah if you run thr nostr relay too you might want to oay to activaye the to features for security snd other things. Totally worth it.
Dont store your private keys on your node. Connect your hardware wallet through somwthing like #sparrowwallet
This is something good to watch if you have nothing to do! MyNode Series

Welcome! I just started myself. So fun!
perfect stuff for a node, i use ubuntu server on my silent pc with ryzen 5, probably a bit overkill but who cares
many options -try each app not vm n dockee
I run Pop_OS & bitcoin core paired with sparrow.
Mynode is cool but I like to keep it simple.
What is pop os? You use that instead of Linux? Bitcoin core allow you to set up a lightning node too?
Pop Os is a flavor of linux. Bitcoin core doesn't have a lightning node built in but you could try running umbrel software on top of pop os. That would get you linux, umbrel (node + lightning node)
Great thanks. What do you use?
I have two computers...
-I run PopOs on my personal computer.
-Ubuntu + Umbrel software on my node/home server
