Homesteading ourselves, and I drive a semi during the week, so I get it. Good pay from the day job and building an apiary, planting trees and perennials, and looking forward to getting chickens again when our side hustles get big enough I can quit driving for a hatchery.

Six figures with a CDL though, so have some building to do! :) might be an option to consider for you too…

Very cool. Tell me more about homesteading actually.

What would you like to know or what are your areas of interest? I prefer to use the term, instead of saying that we are farming… as it is more how we think. More interested in working towards self sufficiency and creating a haven for our family, than focusing on farming for a living. Smaller scale, diverse projects and side hustles, more for our health and well being than to derive a full time living.

What are your main expenses? And how do you generate your income from the land?

Mortgage on the land, infrastructure costs like fencing, earthworks, trees.

Not generating much yet, honey and bee hives/swarm traps are a long term play, as is vanilla extract and hoping to add some sheep once we have better fencing and chickens/rabbits again after I am done working at a hatchery.

What about you? What are your main expenses? How do you generate income?
