My lightning node is going down for a month for the first time since 2018. Have to temporarily move out of my place as it is getting reno’d. Sorry everyone who has a channel with me and thank you for your patience. Will be back online in a month.

wow, for one month? can't you just plug it in wherever you're staying throughout that month?

Its like a whole rack and I don’t feel like moving it. Its not a big deal, i will use alby in the meantime for zaps.

#priorities lol

A reserve breaker for sure.

Pricey. Who’s footing the tax for a month run?

So no zaps for a month?

Switched my address to alby for now. Will transfer it to my node when I’m back

Note to self: do not let your node setup get too large.

A month? All your channel will be force closed. You can’t run it at your friends house for the time being?

Why would they be force closed ?

Good to know! Was wondering what happened there.

Is it best practice to close out the channel, or just leave it?

Asking a friend. πŸ«‚

good luck with the move and your new home

What's your amboss link?

I wish we had a feature to pause lightning channels for such situations

what do you mean. they are effectively paused when you go offline

I mean there is no mechanism to notify the peer the timeframe for which it is offline, I have had peers close the channel when mine was offline because my node crashed and I was not monitoring it.

are you keeping the channels open?

Sounds fun. Rotor Rooter is supposed to be coming to my apartment complex today due to a pipe that's broken under the apartment building between me and my neighbors apartments, and they may have to move us out while they tear up the floor and fix it. We are literally getting dirt coming up our bathtubs. So I may not be able do work for a while either.

Anyway, I can't wait to see posts of your renovations. If you decide to show us πŸ€“
