Ok that helps. I see how to set the user/pw. What about the node’s IP address? I see the Proxy IP and Port for connecting over Tor, but I think the IP there is a generic one that I’ve seen elsewhere and just basically says “use tor browser for network connection” rather than something I could plug into a remote wallet.

So what I’m still trying to figure out, I guess, is 1) what is the node’s actual address, and will it stay consistent when the laptop has a VPN enabled, and 2) what wallets can connect directly to Core?

Sparrow can connect to core. You have to edit the Bitcoin.conf file.

server=1

rpcuser=[yourMacOSusername]

rpcpassword=password1234

Then go into Sparrow and edit the server. User / pass should match the config.

Ah, the mac username was something I was missing. I was making up a new login for the Bitcoin.conf file
