I recommend a piece of hardware dedicated strictly to being a node (not for gaming or web browsing - just bitcoin stuff). so an old laptop, or slightly older thin client fill the shoes perfectly. 8GB of RAM should be enough. id suggest a 2TB ssd to future proof blockchain size. like mentioned above there are some different software packages that are simple out of the box solutions: mynode, raspiblitz, ronin dojo, start9, umbrel. most of these server OS's I just listed will be interfaced through the browser (usually) via another machine on the same network.
