Not necessarily. Increasing taxes can generate the money for UBI and OpenAI has proposed a tax on AI revenue to pay for a global UBI fund. Iโ€™m not saying that particular plan is good but taxing the productive gains from ai could be a good direction.

UBI is not about people just doing nothing, for the time being anyway. In the US studies Iโ€™ve seen post COVID itโ€™s supposed to be a form of relief assistance for the severely impoverished who often do work (and many times have kids). There was a great documentary that released recently you should watch.

Ofcourse there are bad implementations of UBI. There are bad implementations of any policy. Is this an ideal situation? No itโ€™s not. Is it more helpful than sitting by while people struggle to make ends meet? Yes.

Taxes are theft and Sam Altman is a shitcoining scammer that made an okay product. All UBI is based on socialist ideology. The stimmies caused a bunch of government scamming, wealth redistribution, asset price inflation, and consumer price inflation. UBI wouldn't even be a topic of conversation if the USD was backed by gold instead of violence.
