I recently learned that Japanese soy sauce and Chinese soy sauce are different. On top of that Chinese soy sauce comes in light and dark which taste different.

All the Chinese restaurants around me have Japanese, which is most common is American stores, on the table. They use the Chinese in the kitchen though and that is why it is impossible to get home cooked Chinese food to taste right.

Just thought some other #foodstr people might find that information interesting and useful.

Yeah, finding proper Chinese soy sauce is a pain in the ass and you have to special order it.

I waited to get it in and try it before posting just in case someone was blowing smoke up my ass. That's why it wasn't a true TIL. Nope, it really is different.
