My dog knows the leash is like a seat belt. There’s no emotional effect on her at all. Even less than this dog. Her release after I unclip her to get some crazy running done is a bit of verbal and a hand pat. She loves it.

This. I keep the collar on my dog loose enough that she can slip out of it at any time, it will pop right over her head. Every time it happens she sits and waits for me to put it back on 😂

That’s how mine goes too. She can escape a life threatening situation at will by pulling away if the leash is caught, and to put it on for a walk I hold it and she dives in snoot first. 🤣
