success in this context is a process, not an endpoint. in 2000, could have said internet is succeeding even though majority of world has never been online.

Trustless UTXO ownership for everyone that wants it. It's succeeding now but as more people want monetary sovereignty, it begins to fail.
You can have that if you want it. Wanting it means vigilance that most people are to lazy to embody. This is akin to someone saying "Everyone should be able to have 6-pack abs if they want."
THEY CAN.
It's just very difficult and the cost benefit analysis just doesn't work for most people.
